Kit Digital is Spain's public grant that funds the digitalization of SMEs, microenterprises and freelancers. It works through a digital voucher: money that never reaches your bank account, but is deducted directly from the cost of the digital solutions you contract through an accredited digitalization agent.
The program is aimed at businesses with tax domicile in Spain, up to date with tax and social security obligations, and not in financial distress. In 2026, Orden TDF/39/2026 widened access to freelancers with less time in business, to companies that had left a previous application unfinished, and to property communities, agricultural holdings and civil partnerships, which were previously excluded.
The first thing to understand: Kit Digital is not free money for any technology project. It's a closed catalog of standard solutions, with maximum amounts per category. Understanding that difference is what separates companies that get real value from the voucher from those that spend it on something that doesn't solve their problem.
The amount depends on your company's size, measured in number of employees. The current segment structure is, approximately:
Segment III (freelancers and companies with 0 to under 3 employees): up to €2,000.
Segment II (3 to under 10 employees): up to €6,000.
Segment I (10 to under 50 employees): up to €12,000.
Medium-sized companies with 50 to 99 employees: up to €25,000.
Medium-sized companies with 100 to 249 employees: up to €29,000.
These amounts are indicative and can vary by the specific call for applications in your segment. Before taking any step, check acelerapyme.gob.es to see which call is currently open and what amount applies to your case, since the program runs in phases and not every call is active at the same time.
The voucher is spent on predefined categories. An accredited digitalization agent implements the solution and handles the justification with the administration; you never advance money or process payment directly. The most common categories are:
Website and online presence: a professional website with basic SEO positioning included.
E-commerce: an online store with a product catalog and payment gateway.
Social media management: strategy and management of social profiles.
Customer management (CRM): a tool to centralize contacts, opportunities and sales follow-up.
Business Intelligence and analytics: dashboards to track sales, costs or performance.
Process management: digitalizing internal workflows such as invoicing, inventory or HR.
Electronic invoicing: issuing and managing digital invoices.
Virtual office services: collaboration and document storage tools.
Secure communications and cybersecurity: baseline protection for data and communications.
AI solutions: chatbots, applied generative AI, or AI-driven automation, available mainly for companies with 50 to 249 employees.
Each category has mandatory minimum features and an investment cap. If your project fits within those features, Kit Digital is the fastest and cheapest way to get it built.
One of the program's most relevant additions in 2026 is the introduction of specific artificial intelligence categories into the catalog. These include AI conversational chatbots, applied generative AI for content or customer service, predictive analytics, and AI-driven process automation.
These categories are aimed mainly at companies in the larger-employee segments (50 to 249), where voucher amounts are higher and can cover somewhat more complex projects. For smaller SMEs, the process management category remains the main route to introducing basic automation.
Even so, it's worth not confusing “an AI category in the catalog” with “a custom AI project.” Catalog solutions are standardized products from a specific vendor; if you need an assistant trained on your own data and integrated with your internal systems, that typically goes beyond what this category covers.
This is the part almost nobody explains before you spend the voucher, and the one that causes the most frustration when discovered too late.
Custom software development: the catalog funds standard, pre-packaged solutions, not development built specifically for your operations, your workflow, or your business model.
Projects that exceed the voucher amount: if your segment caps out at €6,000 and the project you need costs €15,000, the difference is on you or falls outside the grant.
Maintenance beyond the included period: the voucher usually covers twelve months of maintenance and support. After that, continuing the service is contracted separately, directly with the provider.
Integrations with legacy systems or very specific tools: connecting your internal ERP, a proprietary management system, or an uncommon tool doesn't fall within the catalog's standard features.
Particular business logic: if your sales process, billing model or operational flow has its own rules that don't fit a template, no Kit Digital category will solve it as-is.
Scalability and long-term architecture: the catalog solves point-in-time needs, not the design of a platform meant to grow with your company over years.
None of this means Kit Digital isn't worth it. It means it should be used for what it's designed for, and shouldn't be expected to solve a deeper digitalization problem.
You register with Acelera Pyme and complete the digital self-assessment test.
You apply for the voucher for your segment through Red.es's electronic office.
Once granted, you choose an accredited digitalization agent from the official catalog.
You sign a service agreement with that agent.
The agent implements the solution and handles the justification with the administration.
You never advance the money: the agent is paid directly from the granted aid.
The process is simple on paper, but there's a critical point: choosing the digitalization agent determines whether the result is a generic solution that ticks the box, or a tool that genuinely improves how you operate. Always verify the agent appears on the official list at acelerapyme.gob.es, and compare more than one proposal before signing.
The voucher amount directly shapes what's realistic to achieve with it. Some indicative examples:
Freelancer or microenterprise (up to €2,000): enough for a solid basic website, or a lightweight e-invoicing tool. Not enough to combine several complete solutions at once.
Small company with 3 to 9 employees (up to €6,000): enough to combine, for example, a website with SEO plus a basic CRM, or an online store with social media management.
Company with 10 to 49 employees (up to €12,000): gives room to digitalize internal processes (process management, BI) in addition to online presence, though it still won't cover complex integrations.
Medium-sized company with 50 to 249 employees (up to €25,000–€29,000): the segment with the most room, and the only one with full access to the catalog's AI categories.
In every case the pattern repeats: the voucher covers the standard part of its segment well, and falls short as soon as the project has a non-standard piece, regardless of company size.
The most common mistake is treating the voucher as an end in itself: “I have €6,000, what do I spend it on?” The right question is the opposite one: what does my company need to run better, and what part of that does Kit Digital cover?
An approach that works well in practice:
Identify the real problem first: where are you losing the most time, money or customers to manual processes or disconnected tools?
Check which part of that problem fits a catalog category (website, CRM, process management, invoicing).
Use the voucher for that standard part, and treat it as a foundation, not the full solution.
For whatever falls outside the catalog (specific automations, system integrations, your own business logic), consider complementary custom development.
This combination - Kit Digital for the standard part, custom development for the specific part - usually delivers better results than trying to force the whole project into the catalog, or skipping the voucher because “it doesn't cover what I need.”
Kit Digital makes sense when your need is standard: a website, an online store, a basic CRM, digitalizing invoicing. These are problems shared by thousands of companies, which is why packaged solutions exist that solve them well.
Custom development comes into play when your operations aren't standard: when you have a particular internal process, need to connect tools that don't talk to each other, or your business model doesn't fit any template. In those cases, forcing the project into the catalog usually results in a half-solution that needs fixing again a few months later.
The question worth asking before choosing is simple: does any SME in my sector have this same problem, or is it specific to how I work? The answer determines whether Kit Digital is enough, or whether you need something built to measure.
Picking the best-known category instead of the most useful one: website and social media are the most requested, but they aren't always the business's real priority.
Not comparing digitalization agents: not all of them offer the same quality or level of customization within the same category.
Spending the voucher without a plan: contracting for the sake of it, without a clear idea of which process it actually improves, leaves an installed solution nobody uses.
Assuming maintenance is indefinite: once the included months are up, you need to negotiate continuity or find another route.
Ignoring what falls outside the catalog: assuming “the company is now digitalized” when in reality only the standard part of the problem was covered.
Kit Digital 2026 is a useful tool, but limited by design: it covers a closed catalog of standard solutions, with amounts and features fixed in advance. It works very well for what it's meant for - website, CRM, invoicing, basic processes - and it doesn't work for custom development, complex integrations, or specific business logic.
Getting real value from it doesn't just depend on securing the voucher, but on knowing exactly which part of your digitalization it covers and which part needs something more. That clarity is what keeps you from spending the grant on something generic that doesn't solve the underlying problem.
It is a Spanish public grant that funds part of the cost of standard digital solutions (website, CRM, invoicing, among others) for SMEs, microenterprises and freelancers, through a digital voucher managed via an accredited digitalization agent.
SMEs, microenterprises and freelancers with tax domicile in Spain, up to date with tax and social security obligations. Since Orden TDF/39/2026, property communities, agricultural holdings and civil partnerships can also apply.
It depends on the employee-count segment: from €2,000 for freelancers and microenterprises up to €25,000–€29,000 for medium-sized companies with 50 to 249 employees. Exact amounts depend on the call for applications currently open.
No. The catalog funds standard, pre-packaged solutions offered by digitalization agents. Development tailored to your specific operations, integrations, or business logic falls outside the program.
You can use Kit Digital for the standard part of the project and complement it with custom development for whatever the catalog doesn't solve, either with your own budget or another funding route.
Check that they appear on the official list at acelerapyme.gob.es, compare several proposals within the same category, and review exactly what maintenance is included after the first few months.
